The Translucent jar of Airspun loose face powder

Two formulas, two jar sizes

We mill one loose face powder two ways. Use these tabs to sort the shelf between our 1935 original and the talc-free version introduced in 2022.

Our original talc recipe in the 2.3 oz jar, across 12 listings.

Four shades, kept simple

We keep the range small: Translucent sets without adding color, while the tinted shades lend a soft tone taken straight from our jars. A short shade finder narrows the 4 choices in a few questions.

The shelves on our counter

We lay out our powder by shade across the top shelves, from Translucent to Honey Beige, followed by two-shade duos and full cases of 12 jars.

The standard shade

Translucent 24 on the jar

Translucent, marked as 070-24 on our jar, is the shade most people mean when they ask for Airspun. We mill it twice so it spins with air, sets what is under it, blurs shine and adds no color of its own. Because it leaves tone alone, it fits the widest range of faces.

Our other 3 shades step in when you want a soft tone laid down with the powder. Translucent Extra Coverage, Naturally Neutral and Honey Beige each add their own tint on top of the setting work, while this jar stays plain, clear and out of the way.

Comparing our two formulas

We mill one loose powder in two distinct formulas: our 1935 original talc formula in the 2.3 oz jar, and our talc-free formula from 2022 in the 1.2 oz jar. This side-by-side view outlines the sizes, history, and catalog listings for each option.

Both formulas go through our same twice-spun mill to blur shine and set makeup; the choice comes down to the jar size and base you prefer.

How to use our loose powder

One jar handles several jobs on the surface, from a light veil over makeup to a heavier layer left to sit.

Setting your makeup

Dust a light veil over makeup so it stays put on the surface. It sets liquid layers and leaves a matte finish without adding heavy weight.

How we set and bake

Baking under the eyes

Press a heavier layer over makeup with a puff, leave it to sit on the surface for a few minutes, then sweep the excess away with a clean brush.

The Translucent shelf

Touch-ups through the day

Press a small amount over the face later in the day. It blurs shine on the surface and mattes the finish without adding another layer of color.

Buying by the pair and by the case

We list our multipacks from pairs up to cases of 12 for those who keep a back stock or split an order. Each card displays the per-jar arithmetic so you can see when a full case brings the cost down and when it does not.

How to put our powder on

Load the puff or brush

Dip a puff or brush into the loose powder from the jar. Tap the handle against your hand to shake the spare powder back into the tub before it touches your face.

Press over the surface

Press the puff or sweep the brush over makeup or bare skin. We mill the powder twice so it sits light on the surface, sets base layers, and blurs shine without added color.

Dust the excess away

Take a clean, dry brush and sweep lightly across the face to lift off any loose grains. The surface stays matte and smooth with only the set powder left behind.

Loose Face Powder, Translucent 24, 2.3 oz

Since 1935

One loose face powder, milled twice

We have milled this loose face powder since 1935. The powder is milled twice, spun with air so it settles light on the surface, sets make-up, mattes, and blurs shine without adding color. That milling process is where the name Airspun comes from.

Our round jar has stayed recognizably the same object across the decades. The original talc formula remains in the 2.3 oz jar, while our talc-free formula was introduced in 2022 in the 1.2 oz jar across our handful of shades.

From the retail listings

These are words left by customers on the partner listings where our jars are sold, quoted here as they were written.

I do not wear face powder but my friend Susan had me order it for her. She is 83 yrs old and she wears the powder everyday. She loves it and she has used this for decades. Do I think this is a great endorsement of your product.

This stuff is amazing!!! I ran out of this powder and switched to Laura M translucent powder and my makeup looked so bad. This stuff always keeps my face put and is the best part about my makeup routine. This is a great deal too!!
